personality ♦
Sharon is a sweet girl, a free spirit with a lot of curiosity and a playful streak a mile wide. Having spent much of her life in cat form, she's still adapting to the rules and etiquette of human interactions; she doesn't always understand why people react the way they do or what it means. She asks questions when she shouldn't, she isn't tactful, and she tends to miss verbal subtleties - but she isn't stupid or slow, just uninformed. She's learning faster than anyone expected her to. Her loyalties are fierce and unshakable, lying with those who've been good to her and against those who've been cruel. She tends to see the world in black and white, not really understanding the grey areas; people are hers or not hers, family or not family, loved or not loved, and there's little if any middle ground. Sharon loves to play games and experience new things, and she's easily distracted and entertained by small things. She doesn't pay much mind to what other people think of her, unless by 'other people' you mean ‘Miss Eleanor’.

appearance ♦
Sharon is petite, short and slim with delicate hands and an innocent face. Somewhat detracting from her girl-next-door appearance is her hair, which is naturally a vibrant purple. She frequently ties it up with ribbons, and can sometimes be found wearing reading glasses even though she doesn't need them - she thinks both make her look grown-up and smart. If the hair and the slightly odd fashion sense weren’t enough to clue people in to the fact that Sharon isn’t exactly human, well, the purple tail and the claws will probably do it. Most of her clothing has been modified to fit her tail.

history ♦
Sharon's first moment of awareness came in a small back alley behind a restaurant - the smell of soap and spices, the sound of human voices, the pavement under her paws. What came before that, how she grew up, whether she was born cat or human, none of that mattered to her. She was young, a fluffy kitten with dirty fur, and she was hungry. Never realizing the importance of a first memory, or even bothering to take more notice of her surroundings, she grabbed a piece of chicken from the restaurant dumpster and retreated to somewhere more quiet where she could eat in piece. She fed on wasted gourmet that night, bathed her small paws with her tongue, and curled up to sleep in an empty cardboard box. This was life as Sharon knew it.

Time passed, time that Sharon neither counted nor worried about, and Eleanor Smith, a wealthy telepath, came to the city. Eleanor was tall and pale, she smelled clean and expensive, and she saw something in this little purple cat that nobody else had - something human, something intelligent. Coaxing the cat out of her cardboard home, she took her new 'pet' to her hotel that night, and by morning she was certain there was something more than feline in that brain. It took time, patience, and more kindness than Eleanor had ever been accused of before, but eventually the cat started to shift, started to change, and there on the floor was a girl with purple hair and a nervously twitching tail. Sharon took one look at her long-fingered hands and burst into tears - and promptly stopped, wide-eyed, fascinated by the feel of water on her cheeks. She poked her tongue out to taste the tear, and was amazed. Eleanor gave her a name that day, found her clothing and taught her to keep it on in public, spoke to her like a child, and when Eleanor left the city, Sharon went with her.

They traveled together for a while, Sharon tagging along on the rest of Eleanor’s business trip and learning everything she could about the world. Eleanor had never pictured herself with a daughter, and Sharon had never pictured herself with hands, but things worked out well for them and slowly they began to feel like real family. Despite the strangeness of their situation, they were happy. And then the nightly news showed reports of crucified mutants, powerful young people nailed up on crosses and left to die, and Eleanor knew that her adopted daughter wasn’t safe anymore. She wrote a letter to Charles Xavier, a man she’d always been aware of but never done business with before, and soon Sharon was on her way to his school for the gifted. Hopefully she would be safer there than she could ever be out in the world.

status ♦
Student. Probably in private tutoring at first, although she’d like to be a real freshman once she catches up enough.

♦ genetic information ♦
mutation ♦
Feline metamorph with two main forms - a small housecat, and a powerful panther hybrid. In her larger hybrid form she also has enhanced strength and reflexes, razor-sharp claws and teeth, and a prehensile tail; the claws and tail carry over to her human form. Both her fur and hair are purple.

It’s probably worth mentioning that Sharon considers herself to be a cat with the mutant ability of shapeshifting into a human.

registration ♦
Unregistered. Because she was abandoned at birth and lived her early life as a cat, Sharon doesn’t even have a birth certificate. Aside from the question of whether being on file with the government is a good thing or not, registering would turn up a lot of questions and generally be more trouble than it’s worth.
